I bought this microphone after doing hours of research on which microphone would be best for me. I wanted to get started creating YouTube videos but not spend too much on a microphone in case things did not work out. This product is perfect for beginners because it gives you a good quality sound. Plus, if you wanted to upgrade down the road it wouldn’t be too much of a loss.

The Brushed Aluminum finish was frustrating – at first – it arrived slightly Oxidized of you will – then after some use – now with some hand oil – the finish did take on a bushed feel. It’s a minor gripe at this point – as for plugging The Snowball in – & using it – I’m pretty happy with it… It does have a certain feel to it – you have to be very up close and personal – with The Blue Snowball

I needed a quick and portable microphone for a series of over-the-internet lectures that I was delivering. After some research, I went ahead and bought the Snowball, thinking that is was the best easy, plug-and-play option. I’m very happy with my purchase.

The Blue Snowball Mic is one that I have had my eye on for some time and was very interested in purchasing except for the steep price point and my lack of need for something that I consider to be a more middle to high end microphone. After seeing a price drop recently, I jumped at the chance to purchase the snowball and I’m glad that I did.

Good for the price, but works best close to your mouth

It’s a decent microphone for the money. As other reviewers have mentioned, the quality of the recording is boosted quite dramatically if you hold the Snowball microphone closer to your mouth, but it’s pretty heavy and your arm will get tired if you hold it a long time. If you set it directly in front on you on your desk it works great, but then you can’t use your keyboard easily.

A Great Mike For The Bedroom

The producer and narrater of my previous book said that she was too busy to do my next one. “Do it yourself!” she said. “It’s easy.” Then she told me that I would have to spend at least $300 to $500 on a decent microphone (money I didn’t want to part with), and offered to get some recommendations from her producer friends. In the meantime, I spent a few hours researching mikes on Amazon and decided to take a chance on this. If you want to hear the book that came out of it, you can do it for free; just look for the most recent book by David Boe (released on April 10; they won’t let me link to it) and click on the audio preview, right here on the Amazon site. That’s me, and the recording is as good as any studio, except I did it in my bedroom. In my bed, specifically, surrounded by a few pillows. I mixed it with the free Audible software, which I taught myself to do in just two days. From beginning to final production took just one week. That includes learning the software. (Okay, yeah, maybe I’m a genius; at least my dad thinks so.) But seriously, this is a great mike. It worked right out of the box. Now, to be fair, I’ve only recorded one book with it, and used it for a short time, but everything looks great so far. I can’t wait to do my other books. Without getting out of bed.

I really enjoy my Snowball – it definitely is very clear for skyping – which is my primary use. My voice sounds like I’m in the room with the other people I call. I enjoy the settings on the back. The primary reason I bought this is because my walls are thin and you can generally hear the TV in the other room when I’m playing games for other people on my Microphone. I bought this thinking the combination of the 10 decibel reduced cardoid pattern and the pattern of rejecting noise from behind the microphone would be helpful. It is!

I bought this almost as an impulse buy, as I had just purchased a new gaming desktop for multiplayer gaming and YouTube video creation. My friends had been complaining about my low quality microphones in the past, as they were either not loud enough or always picked up on breathing sounds. However, the quality of this microphone is incredible for the amount I paid for it, and it was absolutely easy to set up. Whereas with my previous microphones Windows needed to install additional drivers, the Blue Snowball seems to use the built-in Windows drivers, which install automatically after plugging the Snowball in.

Better then my previous yeti

I previously had a yeti purchased from Amazon, but it would distort often having me replug it to get the audio quality back to normal. I ended up returning it and just giving up on desktop mics entirely. Out of curiosity and hearing some good things I decided to give the Snowball a chance and I am surprised. The audio quality is on par with the Yeti’s for practically all of my uses. I compared a previous audacity recording to my current snowball and the Yeti is only a small bit better. I mean a extremely small difference for the price difference.

Great quality, but low volume at 2 feet away from mic.

This is a pretty good mic; best that I’ve plugged into my PC. It is very clear and makes you sound “professional.” I am a gamer and a musician, and so I wanted to invest in a good desktop mic and a nice pair of headphones, since this is the cheapest way of obtaining amazing quality (vs buying a gaming headset). Needless to say, this mic didn’t work for me since I sat 2 feet away from the mic, which was on my desk (closest I could get it to me) next to my keyboard. Everyone on Skype, Ventrilo, and RaidCall, said I was quiet, and I had the volume on the mic maxed out. When I leaned forward towards the mic, everybody could here me just fine.
