Now this has to be the best mic for streaming radio stations. The best I have run into. The one feature we love is the headphone jack built into the mic. If you ever tried to stream through a Windows pc you will notice a delay between your live voice and what goes through the mic. Most radio dj’s use headphones when going live. If you have .5 to 1 second delay this can really mess you up. There is no delay when you plug your headphones directly into the mic. The Blue mic seems to be built very well and the sound quality also seems very good. So far so good. The Blue Yeti is Hot Hitz Radio’s main mic now!!

Here’s the thing – this is a great microphone for what it is and how much it costs. I was able to pick one up on a lightning deal for $89 and it’s well worth that price, however, I’ve had a few problems with it from day one that have since been rectified. Let’s start with the bad.

I bought this so that I would be able to record clear audio without the static noise you would hear on most gaming headset/microphones.

Best option by FAR for dictating to Dragon!

Best USB Microphone ever! OK, sounds repetitive. But it is true. While podcasting would be fun, one overlooked use is for dictation. I use Dragon on my Mac. I have spent over $1,000 fruitlessly on microphones from Samson, Phillips SpeechMike, Plantronics, and many others. NONE of them are consistent. I have decided the microphone quality is generally quite poor, as is noise rejection. They are generally poorly directional, having immense shifts in frequency response depending how off axis you are. This radically affects recognition with even a few degrees off axis speech.

I already own a Blue Snowball and decided to upgrade to this Blue Yeti. It’s absolutely awesome and I’m glad I did! This mic is big, gorgeous, heavy, solidly built, and well made.

I had to do a 15 minute recording of me talking for the state of Missouri. I have aspergers and work as an advocate for people who have disabilities. I talked about a myriad of different things during the recording such as understanding people with aspergers, fitting into society, getting a job, etc. The recording quality was absolutely stunning. The video play back was amazing, especially with a pop filter. The sound was much better than a webcam or camcorder could have ever provided. I highly recommend this product for people who want to start streaming, making videos, or do audio books. I watch a lot of streams and have streamed video games a couple of times. I see more than 60% of people using the Blue Yeti microphone because it provides the audio quality that they need to be successful!

Bought this on an Amazon Daily Deal on November 25th (received November 29th). I have purchased three of these in the last 3 years. 2 of them about 2 years ago (for my oldest son and for my middle son). Their mics both still work perfectly. My youngest really wanted one – so I bought him one this last Christmas. He just came to me tonight and said the mic quit working properly 4 days ago. Now when he tries to record – the playback is a very high pitched loud whining that is louder than his voice so the whining drowns out his voice. Mind you – he is very computer savvy for a 15 year old. He tried everything to try to get it to work correctly without the whining – but could not. He brought it to me and showed me – so I heard it for myself. It is LOUD.

I mostly recommend this mic.

A great mic that looks and sounds beautiful. I actually purchased this Blackout Edition Yeti to replace my original Yeti for no other reason than that I never liked the look of the standard all-silver version. This one sounds and performs exactly like the original with the exception of the controls: the mic gain and headphone volume knobs on this Blackout Edition mic are much harder to turn than were the ones on my original Yeti, and the mute button, while it operates much more quietly than the one on the original Yeti, does not always perform its function. Sometimes pressing the button mutes or unmutes the mic, and sometimes it doesn’t. This is a nuisance and I haven’t yet figured out a trick to make it work every time. I might wind up using Amazon’s great return policy to exchange this for another mic in hopes the mute button on the new one will function reliably. Of these irksome issues, though, only the mute button bugs me very much, as I tend to find good settings for the mic gain and headphone volume knobs and just leave them there, while I use the mute button every time I use the mic. It’s a nuisance to have to return stuff, but Amazon makes it as easy as possible, so I’ll probably go that route.
